How to choose

If you want a classroom or a live instructor: the Kansas-based schools above — Kansas REALTORS, the Kansas City Regional Association of REALTORS, RSCK and Lowry — have courses approved for in-person delivery, and most also offer live virtual classes.

If you hold licenses in several states: the national providers (The CE Shop, McKissock, Colibri, Kaplan, WebCE, OnlineEd) carry multi-state catalogs, which can keep your CE in one account. A course taken for another state only counts in Kansas if it's KREC-approved — see using out-of-state CE in Kansas.

If you're a REALTOR who also needs Code of Ethics training: several providers bundle a Code of Ethics course into their Kansas package. KREC counts a KREC-approved Code of Ethics course as an elective, so it can do double duty.

If you just want the 12 hours done online: any of the self-paced providers works. Kansas has no daily cap on CE hours, so you can finish on your own schedule.

What every approved provider has in common

  • KREC approval — check any school in KREC's Directory of Approved CE Providers and Courses.
  • The same 12 hours, including the 3-hour Kansas Required Core. The Commission sets the requirement, not the school.
  • They report for you. Every approved school must report completions to KREC within five calendar days, or by your expiration date if sooner — see who reports your CE.
  • The 90% rule for self-paced online courses, and the one-appraisal-course limit, apply whichever provider you use.

Where Steady Education fits

We built Steady for licensees who want the requirement done correctly, quickly and affordably. Our Kansas catalog is exactly the 12 hours — the Required Core plus Fair Housing, Contracts & Disclosures, and Risk Management — all online and self-paced, and we report your completions to KREC within 3–5 calendar days. We don't offer classroom or live sessions, a large elective library, or a Code of Ethics course; if those matter to you, a REALTOR association or a national provider is the better fit.

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose a Kansas real estate CE provider?

Every KREC-approved provider satisfies the same 12-hour requirement, so the choice comes down to format (online self-paced, live virtual, or classroom), whether you need courses for more than one state, and which electives you want. Check the provider is in KREC's approved directory, and compare current prices on each provider's own site.

Do all Kansas CE providers report my hours to KREC?

Yes. KREC requires every approved school to report your completions within five calendar days, or by your license expiration date if that is sooner. You do not file anything yourself, whichever approved provider you choose.

Can I take courses from more than one provider?

Yes. Any KREC-approved course counts toward your 12 hours, so you can mix providers. You still need the Kansas Required Core from one of them, and only one three-hour appraisal-type course counts per renewal period.
