How many CE hours do I need to renew a Kansas real estate license?

Does a "core" course from another state count as the Kansas Required Core?
No. The Kansas Required Core is a specific KREC-approved course. KREC states that a course titled "core" in another state does not count for mandatory credit in Kansas.
Is the Code of Ethics required for Kansas CE?
No. KREC does not require it and it is not a core course. A KREC-approved Code of Ethics course can count as elective credit. REALTOR associations require it separately for membership.
How many appraisal courses can I count?
One. Kansas licensees are limited to a single three-hour appraisal-type course per renewal period.
Can I take Kansas real estate CE online?
Yes, through KREC-approved distance courses. Self-paced online courses require a score of at least 90% on their exam or quiz questions to earn credit.
Do courses I took for another state count in Kansas?
A dual-credit course through a Kansas-approved provider counts. Otherwise you can file an Individual Request for CE for up to nine elective hours, received at least 15 days before your expiration date.
Do I need to send my certificates to KREC?
No. Your school reports approved-course credit directly to KREC within five calendar days, or by your expiration date if sooner. Keep your certificates in case the Commission asks for them.
What should I register for courses with?
The same name that is on file with KREC and your 8-digit KREC license number. A mismatch can delay your credit being applied.
How do I check how many hours I have?
Look up your record on KREC License Search and open the Continuing Education tab, or log in to the Public Portal. Only the current renewal cycle is shown.
When should I finish my CE?
By your license expiration date, but KREC recommends finishing at least 7 days early to avoid processing delays and late fees. You can take CE any time during your two-year cycle.
Can I put my license on referral status?
No. Kansas has no referral license status. You can affiliate with a company on a referral basis, but completing a referral transaction requires an active license.
Do I have to renew an inactive license?
Yes. An inactive license must be renewed each cycle ($125 salesperson, $175 broker) or it expires. CE is not required to renew inactive, but it must be made up before you reactivate.
